McLaren is one of the most iconic and successful teams in Formula 1 history, with a legacy spanning over six decades. Founded by New Zealand racing driver Bruce McLaren, the team has won 8 Constructors' Championships and 12 Drivers' Championships. Some of the sport’s greatest drivers, such as Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Niki Lauda, and Lewis Hamilton, have driven for McLaren, solidifying its place as a cornerstone of F1 history. After a difficult period in the mid-2010s, McLaren started to rebuild its performance in recent years. The team's partnership with Mercedes for power units (from 2021) has helped them return to podium contention. Despite a challenging 2022 season under new regulations, McLaren made a strong recovery in 2023 and enters 2024 with the ambition to further close the gap to the leading teams.
